Therapists for college students near 90095
I'm a licensed therapist who works with children, teenagers, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges (including ADHD, oppositional defiant behaviors, and self-harm), school-related difficulties, self-esteem concerns, stress, substance use, relationship issues, trauma/PTSD, and major life transitions. I help clients strengthen their ability to cope with mental health symptoms and life stressors so they can reconnect with their strengths, move toward healing, and become the best version of themselves. I tailor my approach to each client's unique needs, recognizing that no two healing journeys look the same. My practice is shaped by my background as a former teacher and current school psychologist, where I merged my love for education with my passion for mental health. This experience allows me to bring a trauma-informed, person-centered lens to my work. I am trained in Brainspotting, a powerful modality that helps process trauma and supports emotional regulation. I am deeply passionate about helping others find hope that moves beyond an abstract idea and becomes something tangible and actionable. I believe lasting change is possible when individuals have access to a safe space, compassionate support, and practical tools to navigate life’s challenges.
If you want to see the universe laugh, tell it your plans.” In my 30 years of practicing psychology, this is perhaps one of my most favorite client quotes. Life is a meandering, unpredictable adventure with fulfilling, joyous times and also some unexpected and difficult challenges included. It’s not always easy to create the life and relationships that will bring fulfillment and happiness. Sometimes it’s difficult to even imagine your goals, understand what’s going wrong and think of solutions to overwhelming problems. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-worth or just a general sense of dissatisfaction and unhappiness, therapy can help you gain insight into your feelings, clarify your life’s direction and help you create a life worth living by maximizing your true potential. I strive to create a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment where we can collaboratively explore, understand and clarify your feelings as well as find more adaptive ways to cope and problem solve the issues in your life. I believe that you can’t really understand someone’s present world without understanding their past experiences and how that is negatively or positively impacting their life now. In therapy I can help you break out of old patterns that are not serving you well anymore, improve coping alternatives and psychological flexibility while concurrently providing you concrete strategies for managing overwhelming feelings in the moment and the support and empathy you need to move forward. Life is hard for everyone at some point, but in considering therapy now, you have demonstrated the courage to strive for more and take the first step towards healing and growth. Together we will create the life you’ve always wanted by exploring what is holding you back, getting in your way and answering the questions you were previously too afraid to consider. I have been practicing psychology/therapy for the past 30 years since receiving my PhD in 1993 from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I recently retired from my job of 21 years in university counseling so that I could start my own private practice and better serve the clients with whom I work. I am a “true generalist” in every sense of the word and have experience and comfort in working with many different types of individuals, couples and issues. Some of my areas of expertise are: *Transitional aged youth ages 18-35, * Relationship and Interpersonal issues * Rape/Sexual assault *Relationship Abuse *Depression *Anxiety *Couples Therapy *Sports Psychology/Performance Enhancement *Processing Childhood Emotional and Physical Abuse. *Life Transitions *Parenting Issues I am eager to join you on your journey towards happiness and fulfillment so please reach out for a free consultation and take the first step toward a better and more powerful you. During challenging times, people often feel defeated and focus on what is wrong. I want to shift the focus from what is "not working" to identifying what is "working." We will work to uncover patterns (behavioral, thought beliefs, relationship), that will lead you to making better decisions. I want to offer a safe place to process thoughts and feelings around issues that can be challenging. I am interested in helping people who experience stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss and challenges with relationships (social or romantic). Many conversations are around “adulting” and how to manage life, career, relationships, etc. I teach clients how negative thought patterns/language effect mood and behavior. Narrative and Solution Focused therapy assists in shifting from self-defeating language/thoughts to a positive life narrative. I utilize CBT and teach the basics of how thoughts effect behavior/mood. I teach ACT concepts- to learn how our emotions and thoughts are related. I teach mindfulness to help with coping.

Hi! I’m Dr. Ruth Rayikanti, a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and the Founder of A Blank Canvas. My greatest passion is helping people find clarity, confidence, and deep inner peace so they can live life with intent, purpose and presence. I was raised in San Francisco and went to UC Davis for my undergraduate studies. After earning my medical degree at Ross University, I completed my psychiatry residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a year of specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente. But beyond credentials, what truly defines my approach is that I take the time to listen to your story, understand your goals, and provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored uniquely to you as a whole person. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with high-achieving individuals including students who are navigating life transitions, burnout, or feeling disconnected from themselves. Whether you’re managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, or simply seeking to connect with who you truly are, together we will explore solutions that create real, meaningful change in your life. Outside of my private practice, I founded A Blank Canvas, a wellness platform dedicated to mindfulness, inner peace, and peak performance. This space is designed to help individuals reconnect with themselves in a deeper way and realign with their purpose. I believe within each of us lies a blank canvas – a place of infinite potential waiting to be expressed. If you’re seeking a psychiatrist who sees you beyond your symptoms and will partner with you to create lasting transformation, I invite you to reach out. I look forward to connecting with you. Be well!
I am a mother of two boys and a wife with over 10 years of experience in psychiatry. My training spans various settings, including inpatient care, crisis units, the mother-baby unit, and academia as a lecturer. I have a particular interest in working with children, adolescents, and the perinatal population. What inspires me most in my work are the patients and their stories—helping individuals make progress and improve their quality of life. I believe in meeting each patient where they are, holding space for them, and listening to their needs as part of the healing process.
Hi, I am passionate about supporting BIPOC students, particularly first-gen college students who are navigating daily life struggles along with the complexities of intersecting identities, navigating systemic oppressions and college/career stressors. I work from a decolonial-Liberation, mujersita framework and utilize my training and experience to support and challenge you to grow in the direction you choose. I have vast experience working with college students. The first part of my career I worked in college counseling centers in both universities and community colleges. I also supervise students in training to be therapists.
Are you struggling to feel connected to an authentic and confidence sense of self? Do you often feel lonely, bored, or empty even though you have things in your life that should be bringing you fulfillment? Do you feel paralyzed by uncertainty or having to make decisions in your life? Maybe it seems that all areas of your life are being impacted by the internal chaos you are experiencing? I believe that happiness shouldn't be this hard, that there is a reason that you are struggling. Understanding the underlying reasons for your current symptoms, and the beliefs that formed them, can help you to make changes to your current life. I have 10+ yrs of experience as a trauma-informed expert in eating disorders and body image issues. I have extensive experience with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, OCD, LGBTQIA+, infertility, trauma, grief, etc. I am certified in ERP for OCD and Lifespan Integration Therapy for Trauma. My approach is based primarily on CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectal behavioral therapy), and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). I utilize attachment based theory to look at patterns and family dynamics from the past to better understand the present. "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” Dalai Lama

Gain an ally to help you face challenges. Together we can help you overcome limiting beliefs or relational patterns. We can help you embrace new perspectives and solve the problems that need solving. We can help you transcend any setbacks you have experienced, and help you appreciate what you have to offer others. Therapy does not have to be rigid; humor is encouraged. We can have fun while applying the best techniques psychology has produced. Together we choose the method that will provide the most progress for the effort you give. We can combine techniques, such as witnessing how your thoughts occasionally betray you, learning what your emotions are trying to tell you, experimenting with new behaviors, and/or seeing how patterns of relating can be modified to help you thrive. We will explore, share perspectives, and help you take your thoughts less seriously. I am empathic & authentic (real). Some clients who have seen other pros say that I offer a good amount of direct feedback. If you want an active, results-oriented psychologist, who averages more than three moments of shared laughter per visit, please email or call me.
Healing isn't always linear. I believe it is important to honor your emotions and prioritize the things in life that bring you joy and purpose. In my practice I focus on serving adolescents, college and graduate students, and young professionals going through life-stage transitions. I am passionate about working with AAPI and Indigenous groups, and those transitioning to the Mainland from Hawaii. My specialty areas include intergenerational familial conflict, Asian Americans working in tech and healthcare, South and East Asian interracial relationship dynamics, and stress reduction with medical students. I use a strengths-based, holistic approach to treatment, and emphasize providing culturally congruent care that is aligned with your unique identities. I help you live more authentically and in a way that fits with your values. I also implement story telling as a narrative-based intervention as means to help you feel fully seen and heard. Overcoming challenges and transitions are an inherent part of personal growth, but you don't have to journey alone. I offer therapy services to clients located in California and Nevada. Email or call me today for a free 15-minute consultation and let's take the first step together.

Together we’ll work to pin point what’s really going on. We’ll look deeper into areas that range from: relationships, anxiety, and depression. I’m here to help discover what’s causing symptoms or distress, and what we can do about it. We’ll spend time getting to know who you are and what could be missing, to bring more joy and happiness to life. Not sure yet?
