Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of your purpose in life? Are you hurt and unsure if you are ready to move on, but just can’t seem to uncover a new path? Some people just need someone to listen, get their experience, and understand how life is for them. You may have tried the same old things, which don’t seem to be working anymore. It’s often hard to ask for help, and seems a bit strange if you haven't been to therapy before. I focus on your strengths and listen with non-judgmental empathy, compassion, and understanding. I sit with you and bring my knowledge and experience in helping you gain awareness and undergo profound shifts in the way you think, feel, act. I know you want to find meaning in your life and relationships, and live boldly. Real change happens by means of: growing strengths, ensuring self-care, increasing mindfulness, developing coping skills, healing the past, and living a life you love. Give me a call or email if you would like to work together.

College can be a lot. You don’t have to navigate it alone. Between classes, relationships, family expectations, friendships, finances, and figuring out who you are and where you’re headed, college can bring both exciting opportunities and unexpected stress. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, lonely, burned out, stuck, or simply not quite like yourself. Counseling can be a space to slow down, feel heard, and work through what’s weighing on you AND without judgment. Whether you’re struggling with academic pressure, adjusting to college life, relationship challenges, self-confidence, identity, or finding balance, we can work together to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected. You don’t need to have everything figured out to reach out. You just need a place to start.

I practice both ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). I also enjoy working with clients who want to work through spiritual/religious concerns and or utilize their spirituality/faith to help them on their journey.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia who is passionate about being a psychotherapist and actually feels called to it. I believe that we all deserve to live a meaningful and fulfilled life, where we feel ACCEPTED, HEARD, SEEN, CARED FOR, and VALUED. I have a genuine interest and curiosity about people… about how we became the people that we are, who and what influenced are decisions, what we believe, and how they contribute to the ways we think, feel and behave. I am very zealous about helping people know and appreciate who they really are, and not just what people and experiences have conditioned them to believe they should be. My main areas of focus are on Anxiety, Attachment Issues, Self-Worth and Trauma where I infuse a mixture of CBT, EMDR, Inner Child, Parts Works and Reality therapy in our sessions to achieve your goals in therapy. However, the greatest help I provide is giving you different perspectives and insight that may have not been considered before, which in turn may change the way you feel and think about the situation. It is my hope that after understanding how your past has shaped how you view your current circumstances, and presses on your future, that you can heal from it and move forward. My Christian faith is also a big part of who I am and how I view the world. For those interested in incorporating Christian counseling in their sessions this can be an amazing way to grow your faith, and help to reestablish your belief in God and how He sees you. I understand that not everyone feels or believes the way I do, and that is perfectly fine. Being a Christian is not a requirement to meet with me, nor does it have to influence our sessions unless desired. I am a staunch believer in not treating people differently for any reason, and respecting one’s choice to believe whatever they want to believe.

I specialize in working with college and graduate students, young professionals, and couples, empowering them to develop skills to manage anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, and explore their self-identity. I also work with first generation and children of immigrants and am committed to maintaining a culturally-informed practice that honors the different ways that people experience and think of their identity. Navigating the complexities of life can be challenging, especially when you’re dealing with things like anxiety, relationship issues, and major life transitions. Maybe you're struggling with the pressure of classes, or with adjusting to your new environment and building relationships. Or you might feel like you’re always anxious about getting things right or not knowing what's going to happen, and worry is becoming exhausting. Perhaps you're at a point where you want to learn more about the impact of your cultural background on your identity and explore the experiences you've had. Going to therapy can be a courageous step towards personal growth and self-reflection to develop the tools needed to manage symptoms and align ourselves more with our goals. Whether you're navigating major life transitions, managing work-related stress, or facing challenges in your relationships, my practice provides a supportive space to help you build resilience. By incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with compassion and mindfulness focused models, I provide a non-judgemental and empathetic environment in my work with clients. For couples therapy, I utilize the Gottman method to help couples improve their relationships. I am licensed in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC015213). I earned my M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Psychology, English, & Classical Studies from Emory University. I provide both in-person and virtual sessions to make therapy accessible and convenient for clients in the Decatur area and beyond. Whenever you’re ready to take a step towards therapy, I would be happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process over an initial consultation. On the outside, things look successful. People rely on you, and you generally handle what’s in front of you. But internally, it can feel very different. Your reactions feel stronger than you expect. You hold yourself to impossibly high standards. That critical inner voice is quick to point out what you should have done better. Even when you accomplish something meaningful, it rarely feels like enough. You may be someone who was labeled “gifted” or high-achieving early on. You’re thoughtful, capable, and used to performing well under pressure. Yet the constant drive to get it right can leave you exhausted. You might notice tension in your body that never quite goes away or difficulty truly relaxing. You understand your patterns and may have even done therapy before, but insight alone hasn’t fully created the change you’re looking for. In our work together, we move beyond simply talking about the problem. I integrate EMDR and somatic-informed approaches to help your nervous system process experiences that may still be driving anxiety, perfectionism, or emotional intensity beneath the surface. When the body has a chance to settle, the mind often follows. Therapy becomes less about “figuring it out” and more about creating meaningful, embodied change. Our sessions are collaborative, focused, and respectful of your time and intelligence. I provide a calm, professional space where you can slow down without losing momentum. Together, we clarify what matters most to you and work toward a life that feels grounded, balanced, and genuinely fulfilling; not just successful on paper. If you’re ready for therapy that goes deeper than insight alone and supports lasting change, I’d be glad to connect. I invite you to schedule a free consultation through my website.

I view the soul as your mind, will, and emotions—the essence of who you are. Trauma can leave wounds that shape your view of yourself and the world, leaving fractures in your soul. Healing to me is not about ‘fixing,’ but about meeting yourself with compassion, understanding the protective patterns that once kept you safe, and reconnecting with the authentic self beneath them. I believe that every person carries an innate capacity for healing, even when pain and shame feel overwhelming. I trust that our wounds, when met with love and grace, can become openings to deeper wisdom, resilience, and growth. I also believe that healing is not a linear path—it unfolds gently, at your own pace, when safety and compassion are present. My work is rooted in the belief that wholeness is possible. "Grace softens the pain, love holds the wound, and compassion leads the healing.” The approaches I use are grounded in years of experience walking alongside survivors of trauma. Together, we’ll work with tools that go beyond surface-level coping and actually reach the root of what’s happening in your body and brain. Through Brainspotting, we can access and release the deep, unprocessed experiences that often drive anxiety and overwhelm. With trauma-informed DBT skills, you’ll learn practical ways to manage emotions, reduce shame, and build resilience. Using somatic approaches, we’ll gently reconnect with your body’s wisdom so that you feel more grounded and safe in your own skin. All of this work is held within a compassion-centered framework—because healing isn’t about fixing what’s ‘broken,’ it’s about meeting yourself with kindness and learning to trust your own inner strength. My goal is for you to leave therapy with tools you can carry with you anywhere—simple, effective practices that help calm your body, quiet your mind, and create space for peace.

There’s no pressure to be perfect or “fix” yourself in this therapy room, and I will encourage exploration of what living imperfectly may feel like. Life can feel exhausting, and I am here to make space for that. I aim to support you in finding a greater sense of authenticity, community and joy in their lives. My clinical training focused on working with clients through an intersectional lens, something that shaped my passion for feminist therapy, where oppression, power and privilege are all named in the therapy room. I recognize the privileges I hold as a white, cisgender, middle-class woman, in working with all clients. I acknowledge cultural differences in therapy, and make space for each client’s experience with any form of intersecting identities. I am well aware of the impacts of patriarchy, white supremacy, heteronormativity, cisnormativity, colonialism, and fatphobia on our mental health, and aim to integrate a decolonized lens into all work I do. I bring anti-racist, anti-oppressive and restorative justice approaches to my work and am willing to be called in by you for any missteps that may happen. The therapeutic relationship is a space where I encourage you to model your ideal relationships and communication, even when it may feel uncomfortable.

College can look exciting on the outside — but behind the scenes, many students feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure they’re keeping up. You may be juggling classes, pressure to succeed, shifting friendships, family expectations, and big decisions about your future — all while trying to hold it together on the outside. If you feel anxious, overwhelmed, unmotivated, or unsure of yourself, you’re not the only one. I work with students who care about doing well but feel burned out from trying to keep up. Many struggle with anxiety, procrastination, trouble focusing, low confidence, perfectionism, or feeling like they don’t quite fit in. Others feel stuck after a setback, unsure about their direction, or overwhelmed by the independence and responsibility that come with college life. Together, we will focus on understanding what’s driving the stress and building practical tools to help you feel more grounded and in control. We might work on managing anxiety, improving focus and organization, navigating relationships, strengthening confidence, and creating a healthier balance between achievement and well-being. I offer a supportive, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can be real about what you’re going through and feel understood. My goal is to help you make college feel more manageable and to help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of who you are.

I’ve always been an “old soul” and felt drawn to finding deeper meaning in a chaotic world. I’m deeply interested in others’ stories and understanding how we grow, heal, and thrive — so I suppose it wasn’t a big surprise that I found my way to the field of counseling. I’ve often found myself in awe at how the human spirit can weather even the greatest of storms. I primarily work with individuals and couples who are experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, loss, and relationship issues, as well as career and professional issues. Additionally, I provide performance consulting for athletes and executives. I received my Master’s degree from Richmont Graduate University in 2009 and went on to complete my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Auburn University. I am currently pursuing certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. I practice from an eclectic orientation integrating psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT!), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Gottman method and Emotion Focused Therapy depending on the client’s needs. I am trauma informed in my approach to treatment. It is important to note that I have specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention as well as the Gottman Method. I was a professor in graduate counseling programs for over 10 years which has enabled me to develop expertise in several areas across the curriculum for counselors. I also draw from years of management experience in corporate and family businesses. When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my family or pursuing my love of beautiful things through travel, flower arranging, or hiking. I am also an avid but marginal tennis player.
