Hi, I'm Heather, a licensed counselor. I specialize in Eating Disorder treatment, and I always have a heart for healing the relationship with food and your body. I also have extensive experience treating individuals with anxiety and depression, which are common for people to suffer without knowing quite how to make it better, or if that’s even possible. I'm willing to integrate spiritual faith into sessions, and will provide supportive acceptance of your belief system. I view my clients not as hopeless or crazy, but simply as genuine people going through a rough time in their life, who need a little help finding their path. With patience and understanding, I can help you find yours too, using an Adlerian framework and teaching skills grounded in DBT, ACT, and/or CBT. I am passionate to help every one of my clients let go of judgment and learn to accept themselves and their imperfections. My energy and enthusiasm for the power of positive thinking are balanced by my ability to meet you where you are with empathy and understanding. Call my office today, and Sarah will get you started!
Culture, identity, and expression are essential to happiness. However, for some of us, this is a challenge to embrace. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them embrace their true selves and accept what we cannot change. People frequently limit themselves based on old assumptions & expectations, and it can be freeing to start to untangle this. The emotional pain caused by these issues can often be isolating, and it can be healing to have somebody else there with you to explore and process. My approach to therapy is to use self-understanding and awareness as a mechanism for change. While my style is primarily insight-oriented, I have an eclectic approach incorporating various therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective therapy. My first session is exploring our fit and discussing realistic expectations and outcomes. If you’re someone who lies awake at night replaying your entire day—going over conversations, decisions, and moments that felt harder than they “should” have—this might be for you. Many people who reach out to me say some version of, “I’ve always felt a little different. I can get things done, but it takes so much out of me. I overthink everything, I second-guess myself constantly, and I feel overwhelmed by seemingly small things” You might lose hours to indecision, get stuck in spirals of overthinking, or feel paralyzed. Often there’s a layer of self-criticism running underneath it all—wondering why it feels so much harder for you. You may relate to a lifetime of trying to keep up, mask, or push through. What once worked doesn’t anymore. Now it can look like burnout, emotional overwhelm, difficulty regulating your energy, or feeling like your nervous system is always “on.” On the outside, you may look high-functioning, capable, and like you’re managing well—but inside you’re worn out. Therapy isn’t about something being wrong. It’s about understanding how your mind works and finding support that actually fits. We can slow things down, make sense of what’s been overwhelming, and build more ease. I also offer nature-based therapy to help calm your nervous system and create space to think more clearly.

I offer a warm, flexible, and low-pressure space where clients can show up exactly as they are. I honor sensory needs and nervous system responses, incorporating mindfulness practices to bring gentle awareness to our experiences. I often use somatic strategies to support connection and foster a sense of safety that is essential for growth. My background includes training in a wide range of approaches from traditional talk therapy to play-based modalities. I’m especially passionate about working with clients who may feel misunderstood or overwhelmed by conventional models of therapy. Clients can expect to feel supported and encouraged without pressure or judgment. I aim to co-create a space that feels steady and grounded. Whether we’re working through emotional regulation, identity, relationships, or everyday overwhelm, therapy can be a space for you. It can feel overwhelming to know where to start, but reaching out is the first step.

I would be honored to have an opportunity to work with you. The warm and supportive environment in my office helps clients feel comfortable working through personal challenges such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, family conflict, ADHD (adult and children), trauma, job stress and other life stressors. I have worked extensively helping adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I employ a human-centered cognitive behavioral approach with a solution-focused emphasis. Often the first step is the hardest. The voice you will hear on the other end of the phone will be sincerely interested in helping you.
I’ve been a therapist for over a decade and specialize in perinatal and postpartum mental health, new parenthood relationships, and major life transitions. I help individuals and couples find calm within the chaos, strengthen communication, and reconnect to themselves and each other during life’s most tender (and toughest) seasons. Whether you're a brand-new mom or dad, an expecting couple, or just trying to make sense of the emotional rollercoaster that this phase of life can bring — you don’t have to do it alone.
Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope. I provide a warm and nurturing, non-judgmental space that will enable you to explore and work on your goals. Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path" - Anonymous

Do you have insomnia or struggle with nightmares? Want to improve your mood, reduce worry/anxious thoughts, change unwanted behaviors, or better manage a tough relationship? My niche is working with clients seeking medium to short-term (1 year or less), goal-oriented counseling. Studies show many people benefit from this more focused approach. Sometimes even a handful of sessions can get you moving in a better direction! I'll help you identify realistic, concrete steps to make the changes you want to see in your life & together we'll create a plan to work toward your goals. (Note: this is not a good fit for every person/problem.) I'm a Psychologist with 22 years of experience & work with adults age 18+. I use evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrate aspects of ACT & Mindfulness if appropriate for your needs. I'm also trained in CBT for Insomnia & CBT-Nightmares, both of which are shown to have positive benefits on other mental health symptoms. It can be hard to start counseling, especially if this is your first time or you found counseling un-helpful in the past. Good for you for taking this first step toward feeling better! Let's schedule a 15 minute phone conversation to find out what you're looking to accomplish through counseling & if we might be a good fit. Please note: I do not provide assessments/testing, and I do not write letters/complete forms for Emotional Support Animals, probation, court/legal situations, disabilities, ADHD, learning disorders, etc..
