Occupational therapy: Occupational therapists (OTs) work with individuals to engage in their meaningful activities. These activities can include self-care, leisure and social participation, work, school, household management, and other responsibilities. OTs provide interventions focused on skill-building, as well as finding environmental and activity adaptations, to best support an individual’s occupational engagement. Our practice focuses on supporting clients with routine and responsibility management, coping with stress and emotions, leisure and social engagement, and life skills/transition to adulthood. We work with youth (16+) and adults managing mental health conditions, executive functioning difficulties, and challenges navigating one’s daily life.

I am located right in Harvard Square in an old Victorian house on Mt. Auburn st. I have daytime hours, early evening hours and I am in the office on Saturdays. My approach is psychodynamic. This basically means I will be an active participant in the healing relationship. We will look at all areas of life and how things from the past may be interfering with the present. I will always call you within 24 hours or less. I have traveled extensively in my life and so I welcome students from the international community as well as local students. I am a native Bostonian! I welcome undergraduates as well as graduate students.

Mental Health. Care. Together. Are you looking to find a mental health provider that listens to you in a way that makes you feel seen? Who helps you unravel the mystery behind your concerns you've never been able to verbalize? Who hears what you say to reflect a treatment and create a space for you to heal, feel safe, and grow into the person you’ve always wished to be? Who sees your lived experience as invaluable as their own, but also brings their domestically and internationally recognized expertise and insight in mental health care? Who brings over a decade of combined counseling, research, and lived experience understanding the unique stressors of college and graduate school? If so, Solidarity Mental Health LLC is for you. My therapeutic treatments are adapted to each individual patient, as no two people are the same. I integrate my academic and mental health training from Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and the University of Southern California, my mental health work globally including Boston, Peru, Japan, Switzerland, and the Kingdom of Lesotho, my experience as a first-generation immigrant, first in my family to go to college and graduate school, treating refugees throughout the U.S., and working, navigating, coping, and thriving in some of the most difficult academic environments in the world. What results are a balanced, person-centered and empathy driven treatment based on unique insights from a 16+ year mental health career treating a mosaic of individuals from 15+ countries globally and diverse urban and rural areas throughout the United States. I have unique insights on not only how you as a college or graduate student can survive and thrive in your current environment, but also how transition to your ideal next step and self after graduation. I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner providing individual psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management to adults age 18+ in Massachusetts via telehealth, and offer a FREE 10-minute phone consultation to determine if we are a good fit for each other. Please fill out the consultation request to get started. I accept patients of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and backgrounds, and have expertise treating BIPOC communities. I am a LGBTQIA affirming provider. I am out-of-network with insurance companies, but happy to provide paperwork for reimbursement to you to submit. I do not prescribe controlled substances. I currently act as Senior Clinical Lead, Mental Health for Project HOME and advisor to the American Psychological Association on BIPOC mental health. Your story and struggles are ones I can connect directly to my professional experiences and background. Most importantly, the path forward to heal and grow is a familiar place I've helped innumerable people discover and reach before. Feel free to email me at sdaimyo@solidaritymh.com with any questions. As a therapist, I take a collaborative approach with patients to relieve distress, improve well-being, and develop new insights. Together, we will identify patterns in living that you want to change, and discover how prior experiences have shaped your emotional life, relationships, and behavior, perhaps in ways that are outside of your awareness. I treat patients who experience anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships, challenges related to work and career, and stress that is related to life transitions. My approach to therapy is interactive and open-ended, with a focus on helping you to learn about yourself and to find new, more fulfilling ways of living. With all of my patients, I work to build a relationship that holds the potential for you to discover new possibilities for yourself. I seek to have a practice that is diverse with regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and ability/disability status. The process of therapy includes exploration of all aspects of identity, including how both marginalization and privilege shape experience. This exploration includes processing how identity is experienced in the therapeutic dyad, and understanding how similarities and differences between the patient and therapist shape the therapeutic process. I welcome hearing from you to discuss the possibility of setting up an initial consultation. Together, we can determine if I can meet your needs as a therapist.

Have you been in therapy before or are you new to mental health therapy? My goal as your therapist is to meet you where you are at and move together towards the changes you would like to see. I pull from a variety of different styles to address your goals, including skill building, CBT, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed care approaches. I hope to foster a space where you feel seen and heard and where you are able to take care of what has brought you to therapy (or back to therapy) in the first place. I offer weekly, bi-weekly, or, in some cases, monthly sessions at 45 or 60 minutes in length via telehealth. All sessions start with a phone call where we 1) make sure I am the right fit for you, 2) verify your insurance or payment method is active and all set, and 3) schedule you an intake and an ongoing appointment time that works for your schedule. I return all calls and email requests for therapy services and hope that I may be of help to you at this point in time or, at the very least, be able to point you in the right direction.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who trained at George Washington University and at Harvard University. I provide individual therapy for adults as well as couples therapy. I utilize psychodynamic/psychoanalytic perspectives in order to best understand my clients. I have worked with clients struggling with various issues such as depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, college/graduate school stress and relationship/family difficulties. I provide an empathetic, supportive, and interactive environment whereby together, the client and I can explore conflicts with the ultimate goal of reducing unpleasant thoughts and/or painful feelings. I view therapy as a process of not only working in the present, but also uncovering the past, allowing for the development of insight and awareness into one's patterns of thought and behavior. I have a particular interest in working with college students, graduate students, law students and attorneys. I am a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, whereby I teach and supervise doctoral students. I am currently only working via telehealth.
