Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
Good mental health is key to thriving in school, maintaining strong relationships, and enjoying life. While medication can be a helpful tool, you may have heard mixed stories and are wondering if it's the right choice for you. Perhaps you were diagnosed with ADHD as a child and managed fine through high school, but now you're struggling to keep up. Or maybe you're already on medication for depression or anxiety, but it no longer seems as effective. You might even be seeking a second opinion on a past diagnosis or looking for a more holistic approach with a provider who truly listens. Whatever you're facing, I’m here to help. Why choose a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)? As board-certified and licensed professionals, PMHNPs are trained to diagnose mental health conditions, provide therapy, and prescribe medication. Nursing has been the most trusted profession for 22 years running, and we are dedicated to putting our patients at the heart of everything we do. That’s why I named my clinic Centered Psychiatry—because your well-being is always our focus. You deserve personalized care from someone who takes the time to understand your story and collaborate with you on a plan that works for you. If you're ready to explore a fresh approach to mental health, let’s connect.
I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, autism-related aggression, and geriatric psychiatric disorders. I develop personalized treatment plans that combine therapy, medication management, and lifestyle modifications. With a holistic, patient-centered approach, I guide individuals toward recovery while collaborating closely with psychologists, psychiatrists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, effective care.
You look like you have it together but inside you are exhausted, overwhelmed, or just quietly struggling in ways nobody around you seems to notice. The students I work with have often been carrying something heavy for a long time: anxiety that won't quit, a past they can't stop thinking about, or a pattern of burning out no matter how hard they try to keep up. Some are high achievers who look completely fine on the outside while feeling overwhelmed or empty on the inside. Others are navigating something that happened earlier in life that is finally surfacing now that they have space to breathe. Many of my clients have tried talking about their problems before and felt like it helped in the moment but didn't really change anything. That's because some of what we carry doesn't live in our thoughts. It lives in the nervous system, in the body, in patterns wired into the brain long before we had words for them. I use approaches, such as EMDR and IFS, that work directly with the brain and body, not just the thinking mind, which is why clients often notice real shifts after feeling stuck for years. You don't need to have it figured out before we talk. You just need to be curious about why you keep feeling the way you do, and open to the idea that something can actually shift. If you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, trauma, depression, difficult relationships, or a general sense that something is off and you can't quite name it, you are probably in the right place.
Is it time to reach out to a therapist? Maybe you haven't had something traumatic with a capital "T" happen in your life, but doesn't being on planet Earth feel like enough reason to start therapy? We can't escape from life's many stressors and occasionally deep wounding, but we can change the way we relate and cope with them, and lessen their negative effect on us. We can observe how we get in our own way, and get to the root cause of what blocks us from fulfillment. With compassion, mutual trust, and a little humor, let's transform your life, and finally break out of the unhelpful patterns that have held you back. I can help you expand your self-awareness, heal from emotional wounding, and support you navigating your life in a way that aligns with your authentic values. I offer psychotherapy with a mindfulness and cognitive approach while teaching you to tap into the wisdom of your emotions' helpful messages. Finding a therapist feels overwhelming, I understand. I do my best to create a comfortable atmosphere where you feel free to be you. I am committed to excellence and value my clients' time. I specialize in helping young adult navigate their 20s. It isn't easy to navigate school, work, family, friendships and romantic relationships. Many young adults are experiencing anxiety, depression and confusion. I am here to help you gain clarity on who you are and what you want. In therapy we will work to identify what is working in your life and where you are struggling. I am here to help provide a friendly ear, a nonjudgmental space and help you acquire the skills you need to feel more relaxed, more clear and happier. Reach out, there is no need to do this alone.
I work best with students dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, or all of the above. A lot of the students I see feel overwhelmed, burned out, stuck in their heads, or frustrated with focus and motivation. Some are looking for medication support, others want non-med options, and many want a mix of both. If meds haven’t worked well before, caused side effects, or just didn’t feel like the full answer, you’re not alone. My approach combines medication treatment with practical, non-med strategies to support your nervous system, focus, mood, and day-to-day life. We’ll work together to figure out what’s actually going on and create a plan that fits you—not a one-size-fits-all approach. If you want care that takes ADHD, anxiety, and depression seriously while still seeing you as a whole person, you might be a good fit here.

Dr. Rademan starts treatment with a thorough and detailed inventory of life experiences that could be contributing to current concerns. She also explores body pain and chronic health concerns as those can be impacted by trauma and emotional wounding. Just like with physical health, mental health can be impacted by earlier 'injuries' that flare up later in life. Many people have been in and out of therapy throughout their life and haven't found sustained relief due to not healing the root issue or concern. At the foundation of treatment, Dr. Rademan utilizes a trauma and cognitive focused framework. Trauma is not only major violence or death, but can also be a loss of a relationship, not getting your needs met when you were a child, or ongoing major stressors. Trauma can be described as anything that significantly changed the way you view yourself or the world.
I primarily work with individuals struggling with compulsive behavior, including sex/porn addiction, codependency, internet/social media addiction, and problem spending/debting. Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop. Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Listen to your mind and body - it's time to stop treating yourself so badly. I can help you learn to help yourself. You can become your own best advocate. All are welcome in my office, including those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.
I am a proud first gen, Salvadoran American and daughter of immigrants. My goal as a therapist is to assist clients to build a more fulfilling life by fostering an understanding of themselves and the complexity of our human emotion. I believe that creating an environment of unconditional support, trust, and understanding is crucial to the therapeutic relationship As a former hospital social worker, my unique experience lends special insight into the needs of individuals experiencing chronic illness and loss. My current and past work experience provides me with skills and knowledge to journey with our clients. I obtained my Bachelor's in Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Human Development and Family Sciences as well as my Masters in Social Work from the University of Houston. I am also fluent in Spanish. I draw from these important educational and work experiences to work with clients who are facing life transition issues, conflict in relationships, and psychosocial adjustment to health issues. My approach is rooted in compassion, mutual respect toward each client, and mindfulness of the dignity of each human person. Everyone's needs and experiences are different. I will work with our clients to find a therapy style works best for that individual.
