I'm Brooke Sundin, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and the owner of Light Minds Child and Family Therapy, a private practice based in Brentwood, Los Angeles. I work with college students and young adults adjusting to new responsibilities and the growing pressures of adulthood. The clients I work with are often dealing with anxiety, OCD, depression, self-esteem struggles, and the life transitions that come with this stage: starting or finishing college, moving to a new city, figuring out relationships, choosing a path, or grieving the version of life you thought you'd have by now. Some of what we work on is symptom-focused. A lot of it is bigger than that, like building a clearer sense of who you are and what you actually want. My approach is collaborative, interactive, and warm. Therapy can be a vulnerable space to step into, and I'm here to cheer you on along the way. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model, so I adjust my approach based on what you actually need. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness. I'm also certified in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) through the Yale Child Study Center, which I use when parents want to be part of the support system. I'm licensed in California, Florida, Utah, and Tennessee, and I see all clients via secure telehealth, which tends to work well for college students juggling class schedules, internships, and a life that doesn't sit still. Reaching out for support is one of the hardest steps, so thank you for considering me. If it seems like we could be a good fit, I'd be honored to learn more about your story and welcome you to the Light Minds family.

What inspires me to work as a therapist is the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution on a daily basis. As an immigrant woman of color, who is bilingual and bi-cultural, my family’s struggle to achieve mental health despite deep seated stigma and shame illuminated my commitment to work as a therapist. Clients are the owners of their lives, and I respectfully honor their right to self-determination. A basic guiding principle in my therapeutic work is that clients are able to succeed when they choose their goals and their psychological needs are met. As such, it is my job to encourage competence and mastery of their own paths. That is, what works is what works for the client! Trust is the cornerstone that allows positive growth in therapy, which for me includes empathy, validation, and unconditional positive regard of the client. Reinforcing that we are all doing the best we can, and that coming to therapy is not a failure, but rather it is a growth opportunity.

You Don’t Have to Navigate College Alone College can be an exciting time of growth and possibility, but it can also bring unexpected stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Sometimes, the experience of adjusting to college can feel even more complicated when you’re balancing the expectations and values of your culture, family, and community with the person you’re becoming. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who specializes in supporting individuals through life transitions, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I understand that college is more than academics—it can be a time of figuring out who you are, where you belong, and how to create a life that feels authentic to you. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and centered on you. I meet clients where they are and create a space where you can explore your experiences without judgment. Together, we can identify what matters to you, understand the experiences that may be affecting you, and work toward goals that you choose. Whether you’re struggling to adjust to college, feeling overwhelmed by expectations, navigating your cultural identity, coping with past experiences, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and reconnect with your sense of agency. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Therapy can be a place to start.

I like to provide education regarding treatment options that are most suitable for each individual’s need in order to make sure they feel comfortable with the decision. All psychiatry providers at Foresight have specialized experience in treating a wide range of common mental health conditions, including but not limited to ADHD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, depression, and PTSD. In addition, I specialize in the following areas: academic stress, deprescribing, trauma-informed care, eating disorders, first responders, grief

I am an empathetic and caring therapist. Clients have told me that I have a gift for putting myself in their shoes and really feeling what they feel. I work with young adults who are trying to find their footing and better understand themselves during life transitions. They may be starting college, managing academic and social stress, figuring out life after graduation, navigating a breakup, or simply wondering, “What am I doing with my life?” Even exciting transitions can bring up anxiety, self-doubt, grief, and big questions about identity, relationships, and what comes next. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#142462) practicing under the supervision of Gregory Gooden, LMFT (#110967). My approach to therapy is grounded in attachment-based, cognitive behavioral (CBT), person-centered, and trauma-informed practices. I have received specialized training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and Restoration Therapy. I believe therapy should be a space where clients feel genuinely understood and supported while making sense of their experiences and getting curious about what they need. My hope is to help clients feel more grounded, more confident, and more connected to the person they want to be.

As a first-generation Filipino-American and the oldest child of immigrant parents, I am passionate about destigmatizing mental health. I believe people are inherently resilient but sometimes need space to tap into this resiliency. Providing this space drives my work, and I am grateful to witness my clients’ healing journeys. Therapy can be scary, so I strive to make the therapeutic space warm and safe by listening without judgment and having a calm presence. I truly believe in meeting my clients where they are at. I try to create an environment where my clients feel like they have control over what they share and how much they share. I believe my clients are the experts of their lives, while I have certain tools and knowledge to help them be the best version of themselves. My clients are the ones in the drivers seat and I strive to build trust at their pace. Sessions are collaborative and I consistently check in about how my clients are feeling about their overall progress in therapy.

Being a college student can be a lot. Between classes, exams, relationships, family expectations, and the pressure to figure out "what's next," it's easy to feel stretched thin, anxious, or unsure if you're doing any of it right. It can also feel hard to focus on your own life when world events feel heavy or overwhelming. You might be questioning a relationship, feeling disconnected from friends or family, or wondering who you are outside of what everyone expects of you. You deserve a space that's just for you, where you don't have to have it all figured out. Together, we'll work through the stress and anxiety of this season of life. We'll untangle relational patterns that feel stuck and get curious about what you actually want. Along the way, you'll walk away with practical tools to manage stress and anxiety so you can feel more grounded day to day. Getting clearer on your values and who you are can make the uncertainty feel a lot less overwhelming. My style as a therapist is authentic to who I am in everyday life. I show up with warmth, kindness, patience, and humor, and I want you to feel like you can be fully yourself in our sessions. We'll shape the work around what you need, blending honest self-reflection with practical steps forward. If this sounds like what you're looking for, I'd love to connect.
