Hello! My name is Mitchell (he/him), and I am a counselor specializing in helping LGBTQ+ folx with intersecting disabled identities, as well as those with chronic health conditions. I'm a gay cisgender man, born and raised in the south, who lives with a chronic illness. I enjoy working with individuals of all varieties on the sexuality and gender spectrums. I also enjoy helping clients negotiate relationship boundaries (with family or others), and navigate stressors related to harmful laws. I’ll support you in identifying patterns that no longer serve you, strengthening your sense of self, and cultivating self-compassion for all the things you already do so well. I offer free 20 minute consultations to see if we are a good fit for each other :)
It is important that you have a space that is supportive, validating, and most importantly safe for us to work towards exploring healthy and effective ways to cope with changes that impact you physically, mentally, emotionally, and for some spiritually. I will meet you where you are in your unique circumstances that brought you to this space for healing and clarity. Flowing With Growth Psychotherapy is a safe space that welcomes BIPOC clients of all sexual, gender, and intersecting identities. I work with clients who are in and/or exploring different relationship structures (polyamory). I am also sex positive & kink allied!

I employ a variety of approaches in my work including Dialetical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I have particular expertise in helping trauma survivors. I help people heal from complex trauma by providing a safe, caring, non-judgmental therapeutic environment. College can be a stressful time, with new academic demands, social pressures, and uncertainty about the future. College can also be demanding with tight deadlines, exams, and responsibilities, leading to high levels of stress that can become overwhelming. I have special expertise in helping students navigate the demands of college. I have experience helping individuals who struggle with eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. I also have experience working with individuals who identify as part of a gender, sexuality or relationship structure minority (GSRM). I also have expertise in healing from narcissistic abuse. Narcissistic abuse is a type of emotional abuse where the abuser only cares about themselves and may use words and actions to manipulate their partner's behavior and emotional state. Healing from this kind of abuse requires expertise from the therapist about navigating boundaries, especially when there is a continuing relationship. I believe it is a privilege to accompany people on their therapeutic journey. I tailor my approach to each unique individual.

I specialize in working with the gifted, although I am not limited to that. I use psycho dynamic psychotherapy.
I am passionate about helping young adults process their identity and emotions during life transitions and as they come into who they are. Clients leaving high school, graduating college, entering marriage or their first jobs often find that they are reevaluating what their values are and how their early childhood experiences have affected them. I enjoy working with clients as they walk through these parts of their story and come to understand themselves better.

My waitlist is open, please email me! In a safe and non-judgmental environment, I utilize art therapy to help you process emotions and challenging life experiences. No experience in art is necessary to benefit, you only need the willingness to express yourself and engage in the creative process. I use art therapy in counseling with those who are seeking to process anxiety, stress, trauma and more. As your therapist, I will work with you to ensure that you feel safe and validated while we build the therapeutic relationship and process challenges with art therapy. Not into art? Not to worry, I also offer traditional talk therapy! Art therapy is a powerful mind-body therapeutic process. Using art in therapy stimulates the brain in areas inaccessible by verbal stimulation alone and contributes to new neural connections. Focus is on the therapeutic process of art making, creativity and reflection, as well as personal growth and development. I am here to help you with any challenges you might be facing. If this seems like a good fit for your needs, please reach out and we can discuss more in depth about how art therapy can benefit you! Email is the best way to reach me! People who never felt "just like everyone else" or dealt with a lot of negative self talk are those who I love supporting most. I am an art therapist, as well as a licensed professional counselor, and that means we have a lot of options in our tool box to find what works best for you. What is most important to me is making sure you feel heard, comfortable, and safe (and maybe even laugh once or twice)! I specialize in adolescents as well as young adults/college age clients as they continue to navigate "growing up". Sometimes sessions may be 100% talk therapy, sometimes 100% art/music interventions, and often some mix of both- it is totally up to what you are most comfortable with.
