Therapists for college students near 02138
My clients are aware that something is not working and are motivated for change, even if they're not sure where exactly that change starts. My clients are often very conscious of the systemic stressors that make their lives more difficult, and come to me looking for support as they navigate challenges and imagine their futures. I specialize in identity exploration, trauma-focused practice, and LGBTQIA+ mental health. I use a blend of talk therapy and drama therapy to engage my clients in reflection on their present challenges from an embodied perspective, and provide a fuller understanding of how their past shows up in their present. I bring myself into my work, and hope to challenge the old idea that therapists inherently know more than their clients. You are the expert of your own life, and I would feel honored to be invited into your world. If you are interested in learning more about how I could support you, please be in touch.
I provide both English and Mandarin virtual psychotherapy to individuals and families. My approaches include CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS and MI, and I adapt the approach that resonates with my clients; my practice also focuses on our automatic thoughts, behaviors, and feelings, as well as exploring cultural identity, navigating cultural dilemmas, and releasing intergenerational tension. I have more than 7 years of experience helping individuals with mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, cultural identity issues, and generational conflict. I am also equipped with the knowledge to work with individuals with special needs, such as autism and developmental disabilities.

I believe the greatest gift a therapist can offer is full presence with a compassionate ear. Many of my clients have sought therapy because something that was working for them was no longer working, or they noticed patterns in their lives that they wanted to change. Many felt unseen, unheard, and stuck in relationships. Some noticed patterns of anxiety or anger impact their relationship with others or their work. Some were experiencing family estrangement, contemplating cutoff, or processing the loss of a loved one. Whatever it is that brings you to our therapy space, I want you to walk away from a session having felt that I was with you on the other side, to make sense of things when nothing was making sense. Give yourself permission to be here as you are. What we acknowledge and admit to another becomes more real, and you matter. In our therapy space, even if you take your shoes off at the door, you can bring your whole self. I work with clients whose journey to therapy has been filled with ingenious ways to make due with what they have. Many find a major life transition (relationship, career, moving, school) challenging their current tools. Using attachment-based, somatic, and mindfulness-based therapies, we learn to slow down--to feel and then deal. To see where we may be unskillfully expending resources and how to reclaim them. Using an integrated-brain approach that values insight but doesn't stop there, I equip clients with an understanding of themselves in both their verbal and somatic narrative. As a social work-trained therapist, I strive to ensure that our therapeutic relationship is a refuge from larger systemic harm and trauma. I invite you to bring with you your current resources, social location, and values that you have inherited from your family of origin, ancestors, and communities. Please feel free to contact me for a free 20 minute phone consultation to see if we would be a good fit together.
What if getting better didn't mean spending years talking about everything that's ever gone wrong? I work with college and grad students to build real, lasting change by providing insight and skills that actually help. With over a decade of clinical work in the US and abroad, I've helped young adults manage anxiety, quiet the perfectionism and imposter syndrome that follow them into every exam and internship, while creating a healthy type of confidence that remains under pressure. My clients describe working with me as supportive, direct, collaborative, and nothing like what they expected therapy to be. We figure out what's driving the pattern. Then we work on changing it. I specialize in: anxiety, burnout and stress, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. My approach pulls from CBT, ACT, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness, grounded in a trauma-informed model. You don't have to have it figured out to start. Currently offering Online Therapy throughout Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Vermont, and Florida. Whether you are in Boston, NYC, or Denver, I am ready when you are.
I am an integrative, trauma-focused, queer therapist dedicated to helping people understand themselves better. I particularly enjoy working with clients who want to be in more authentic, connected relationships with partners and family members, want to better understand how trauma has impacted their life and shed patterns that are no longer useful, or want to parent differently than they were parented. My areas of specialized training include interpersonal trauma and PTSD (sexual assault, childhood abuse, domestic violence), attachment and relationships, perinatal mental health, and infant/early childhood mental health. My approach is informed by an anti-oppressive, feminist, and identity-affirming lens. I hold a perspective that our systems and culture impact our sense of self and how we show up in the world. You know yourself best, and I am here to create a nonjudgmental space for you to bring your full self to learn and grow in the ways that are most important to you. I balance processing to better understand a root cause and change patterns with learning new skills. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership, welcoming feedback and showing up with warmth and authenticity, integrating humor and gentle challenging where appropriate. I am an LGBTQ+ therapist supporting adults. Whether you are coming to therapy to make a change, make sense of yourself or past experiences, or simply want someone to listen to you, I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for you to explore your life, relationships and concerns. Whatever your goals, I will guide you through the process and together we will try to understand any repetitive patterns of unfulfilling behaviour and gain insight into how past experiences have come to shape present-day experiences. I also work full-time as a therapist supporting undergraduate and graduate students at Harvard University helping them navigate challenges associated with mental health, academics, and relationships. I believe the single most important aspect of successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client. I therefore invite you to sit down with me in a relaxed way so we can talk. I can help you make better sense of your experiences, thoughts and feelings. Together we can discover meanings, recognise patterns, and explore options.

**Some schools such as a nationally renowned women's University in the Newton-Wellesley area have encouraged me to become in-network with BCBS PPO, but after checking it out, such students (from similar schools/insurances) pay ONLY $10-20/visit out of pocket MORE than in-network providers!! I fully encourage you to look around to see who else is out there; I believe my greatest strengths = excellent communication, including promptness of responses to concerns, humor, empathy, and a willingness to hear your narrative, attentive yet free of judgment… Check out my reviews at: https://g.page/r/CfP5EFngyBa_EBE Ask your school/insurance or contact my office for additional information regarding reimbursement! ******** Hello, I am Dr. Ronald T Lee, MD, a psychiatrist certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, here to serve your psychiatric needs from the comfort of your home/dormitory, or wherever need be, only limited by technology, not location. As a psychopharmacologist and psychotherapist serving the psychiatric needs of residents throughout all of MA virtually via Telehealth, I would love the opportunity to help you become the best version of yourself by servicing your mental health wellness needs. Problems, conflicts, and stage of life are all quite unique in the college/graduate student experience, unlike any other period of your life. I have been there, myself, at the University of Michigan, Georgetown University, with post graduate training at Harvard University and the University of Connecticut: each of those institutions had their share of academic and personal challenges that, while difficult, would ultimately play a force in shaping me to become the physician and person I am today. Social anxiety and dealing with academic pressures that felt overwhelming, were experiences I can certainly relate to, firsthand. If anything, I wish mental health was not so stigmatized back then, while lamenting, that they still do, not to a degree. At times, especially early in my higher education experience, I did not know or was too embarrassed to ask if there were resources I could turn to. In hindsight, it would have been extremely helpful to have resources that could have helped me understand that those feelings of disorientation and sense of being rudderless in a confusing world, at an especially stressful time, were more typical than I imagined, and manageable with the right resources. It would have been helpful for me to know that I was not alone, with someone guiding me in a nonjudgmental fashion. I would like to be one of those encouraging voices for you, if you will allow me. I suppose what also largely differentiates me from others on this site, would be my ability to prescribe medications, only if needed. I did take an unusual route, changing majors, to eventually attend medical school, in Philadelphia, to obtain my MD, which I am proud of, and allows me to treat students from multiple angles of psychotherapy and/or pharmaco-management (medications)--and I might also have experiences of my own to share for any pre-meds out there really feeling the pressure. Feeling social anxiety, heightened by COVID? I may have been there, in a few different iterations, with some tips, in hindsight. Procrastinating finally catching up to you when it counts? I will plead the fifth amendment to that, ha ha 😁 If this resonates with you, you are seeking treatment as soon as possible, or have tried another provider that has not met your needs, please give my website a look. Consider whether we might be a good mutual fit to help you achieve your best quality of life, during this critical juncture of transition to adulthood. Let's see what we can do together and get started!
